Old Business:
- Concerning the October Hamfest timing. It was suggested to
change to another time of year because of the tendency for storms
this time of year that have caused cancellations or delays. There
was a discussion to change to March or April. We seem to have
settled on March, but we will check to see that we don’t overlap
with other clubs. A decision will be made at the next meeting then
we can begin to promote the event. - Richard Donald says that the 2-meter repeater was hit by lightning.
The cost to rebuild will be $250, which the county will pay. The
repeater was replaced, and the rebuilt repeater will be used as a
backup. - Marion McMillian reported on the electrical work to take place for
the repeater housing on Sassafras. The work is hopefully scheduled
to take place this coming Saturday, September 27, 2025. The
hospital repeater is to be used on Saturday and possibly Sunday if needed. - A check was issued to cover the cost of the update, along
with a permit to do so. Marion supplied us with a copy of that
permit, which is placed in the club minutes file. The question was
raised as to whether we have secured a lease on the site. Anson
assured that we have access and that all appropriate paperwork
was submitted. This seems to be in limbo, but we have the back of
Anderson County to maintain our position. Ken Forester says it will
be at least a year before the new tower is constructed. So for now,
we need to maintain what we have and keep it running.
New Business:
- The October meeting will be held on October 23, 2025. This will
be an abbreviated meeting with a memorial service for Sue
following the business meeting. - Today, the state EOC placed those on Auxcom on standby for the
expected storm.
Reminders: - Dr. Marion McMillian will be conducting an Emergency
Preparedness Seminar this Saturday at the Anderson Main Library.
This will start at 9 AM till Noon. This will be recorded and placed
on our website for those who can’t make the seminar to view. - There is a contest scheduled this weekend for those who would like
to participate. - Antenna Party for Dick to be held on October 11th or 12th. He has
acquired a bucket truck and an operator to assist. There will be an
email with details sent out closer to the event date, and when a
plan is nailed down. - The next Testing Session will be held on October 18. 2025 at 2 PM.
- There is a need for a Net Controller for Thursday nights. Linda has
served in this position for a very long time and is moving to other
avenues of service, and has asked to be replaced.
The ticket 50/50 drawing was held.
The meeting was adjourned.
