Anderson Radio Club Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President K4NWX Rich Shalayda.
Introductions were made for all attendees.
Minutes from the previous meeting were read by club secretary KQ4AIA
Elaine Ellett and approved.
Treasurer KK4CEW Tom Weir read the monthly financial report, which
was approved. Tom checked on reworking the Club CDs, and this was
changed to 7 7-month CDs at 3 1⁄2%. This was accepted and approved.
Elaine read the new club application for Parker Bailes, Kenneth Frier,
Gregg Smith, and John Nelson. Motion to accept and seconded.
Approved.
Old Business:

• No movement on the tower construction.
• 2 Trailers that were sold have been taken possession of by new
  owners.
• Summer Field Day 2025 is in the books; we had a good turnout. 20-
  25 members were in attendance. A survey was sent out to get an
  overall feel of what worked and what needs to change. It was
  suggested that we make a point to know each other’s strengths to
  take advantage of the expertise we have available, and how it will
  help with handling emergencies and events. The GOTA station met
  some old HAMS and New HAMS, but there wasn’t a lot of foot traffic.
• Safety Team was exceptional.
• Contacts were made

New Business:

• Rich will not be running for President next year. Rich has
  nominated Wes for the position. It was emphasized that, should
  anyone like to run for any office, they should do so..
• This weekend, there will be a class on NANO VNA, used to check
  various components of the HAM Radio setup.
• There was a suggestion to hold a mini Field Day in August, possibly
  the last Saturday. This will help us get some experience in passing
  and handling traffic.
• Auxcom Training meeting September 12th and 13th
• Dr. McMillian will hold an Emergency Preparation Class at the
  Anderson Library on Saturday, September 27th
• HAM Fest October 11th
• Next exam session to be held August 16th at 2 PM.
• Possibly plan a November Mini Field Day
• Mesh Tastic location services were discussed. Rich will be getting a
  Repeater for this. UPSTATE Meshtastic 5-10 miles line of sight. This
  would help others locate you. Just one more tool in the toolbox.
• Keith Barns will be holding a preparedness Net at 8:00 on
  Tuesday’s
• Rich is now Net Manager for Single Sideband 3.915 7 pm every
  night except Christmas.
  Had the ticket 50/50 draw.
